Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Engines
Nothing Compares to Vanguard Commercial Grade Power
Some companies try to save a little money by selling a low grade engine to power their units. Well, all we can tell you is that just like the rest of our product, we’re not cutting any corners. We choose to offer commercial-grade Vanguard engines on ALL our Cyclone Rake models and we think you’ll agree that for this application, there’s nothing better. They start on the first or second pull, have an unmatched 3-year warranty, and will stand up to rigors of year round use. Check out the information below which will give you the inside scoop on why the Vanguard Engine is the preferred power unit for your Cyclone Rake. And feel free to visit VanguardEngines.com for even more detailed specs for Briggs & Stratton performance parts.
The Vanguard™ Power Lineup
Each Cyclone Rake model is designed with the optimal combination of engine horsepower and vacuum mulcher system to provide peak performance.
A: Massive Engine Block and Head Castings are far heavier than those on lower quality engines. These provide greater strength and rigidity, plus lower vibration and noise levels.
B: Forged Steel Crankshaft has far higher strength than the cast iron shafts used on lower quality engines.
C: Heavy Duty Dual Ball Bearings support the crankshaft on both ends, rather than the single bearing commonly used. This gives longer life and higher power output because of reduced friction. It also makes engine starting much easier.
D: Heat Treated Steel Gears, rather than molded plastic used on lower grade engines.
E: Dura-Bore™ Cast Iron Cylinders for improved oil control and greatly increased engine life.
F: Premium Lo-tone Exhaust System provides exceptional noise reduction.
G: Rugged 4-liter All-steel Fuel Tank with built-in fuel filter. Withstands the toughest working conditions and gives extended run times.
H: Dual Element High Capacity Air Cleaner captures harmful particles down to 5 microns in size. Combines a pleated media filter with debris ejection slots and foam pre-cleaner to provide maximum engine protection.
Consumer-grade lawn vacuum motors are rated in foot pounds of torque, not horsepower. Vanguard engines are rated in gross horsepower by Briggs & Stratton per the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) specification J1940. To make comparing engine power ratings simpler, we also give you the torque rating in foot pounds for each Cyclone Rake Vanguard engine. Horsepower and torque are not the same. When comparing engines, check the power ratings carefully. Consumer-grade engines are rated in foot pounds of torque, not horsepower. While this rating technique results in a higher number rating, it doesn’t mean you’re getting more power. For example the 6.5 HP Vanguard engine on the Cyclone Rake Commander generates 9.1 foot pounds of torque.
